Chicago Southland families are interested in prekindergarten services and afterschool care. Parents and grandparents want their children to have homework help as well as weekend support, while children want a place where they can feel successful. Licensed teachers Kim Gaitor and DoriAnnWilliams assess and create an individualized academic program for each child to experience benchmarks of success. With over 19 years of experience in the public school system, Gaitor, a reading specialist with a background in divinity and Williams, a special education instructor in Park Forest with a background in post-secondary/adult education, plan to serve the community in a way that blends lifelong learning with their belief that all students can learn when given motivation, opportunity, and direction.
Tutoring:
Licensed teachers provide instruction on core academic subjects, test preparation, and study skills. KES educational services include reading, math, science, and writing readiness for all ages -- PreK-12th grade. Children can enhance skills in computer technology, study/life skills, and all in classes with a student to teacher ratio of 7 to 1.
Summer/Holiday Enrichment:
Every year students walk through school doors with the worry that they have to catch up on skills that have lapsed over the summer months. But with KidCorp Educational Services, young learners can spend less time catching up, and more time moving up the academic ladder. Kindergarten-8th grade students will have a rich curriculum taught in small groups and hands-on activities. Sessions take place throughout the day.
Drop-In Learning Services (for Lincoln Mall Shoppers):
Kids learn while parents shop. Students experience a classroom atmosphere, active learning stations, instructional circle time, and reading, math, writing readiness. Children join the regularly scheduled program without an appointment as long as space is available. $45 for six hours, $20 for additional children, or $12/hour per child. Multiple family member discounts available.
PreK/K/KidCorp Academy:
Students attend scheduled classes equal to 180 days or more of instruction. KidCorp follows the Illinois Learning Standards to ensure comparative standards in education. Graduation is held at the end of the school year.

Curriculum
KidCorp uses a variety of programs to best meet the needs of our students. A Beka and K 12 make up the core curriculum and is supplemented by Plaid Phonics, Singapore Math, Shurley English, Gretchen Courtney Writing and Me4E Science.
